To coincide with the launch of my new website this week, I thought it only fitting to publish my first blog introducing myself and getting to know you all a little better. I mean, If I'm going to be working closely with you on important projects, then what's a thought or two between friends right? If I'm going to help bring your design visions to life, I reserve the right to call you my friend. Got it? Writing about myself, pimping myself, is not easy.

I guess the best way to start is to tell you a little bit about my passions (No, not the dating site kind, sheesh!) and what brought me here in the first place (No, not the stork delivered me here kind either ok?) Never mind that I started my career life in Real Estate, I always found myself drawn to Graphic Design and in particular, Editorial Design, being extremely fussy about typography, white space & composition. Whether it’s simple, clean and elegant...to busy, messy, loud & bold layouts, I’m always up for the challenge!

Bringing content to life visually the best way I can, using the best methods I can, either on paper or on screen is my passion. Experts will tell you the future for editorial design is digital, but I believe people still love traditional magazines (with a convenient and alternative digital version to compliment it of course).

What's that you say? ""Print Design is de....." Wash your mouths out (or backspace that keyboard!) I don’t believe print design is kaput at all. I feel the industry is changing as more publications continue to move towards electronic formats but I feel that people still love traditional magazines and publications even before they become the token retro thing to collect like the poor old vinyl which has been 'born again' and resides on every hipsters loungeroom wall (c'mon we all know at least one).

Whether it be newspaper, magazine, book, brochures, newsletters, stationery, postcards or banners, I'm here to help make them cool again in 2016 & beyond! Here's some homework for June..... If something stirs you and reaches out to you like a familiar old song would - gaze at it lovingly before you pick it up, touch it, turn it, read it, feel it, smell it, love it, make a copy of it and pass it on. Whatever you have to do, except maybe taste it because that would be just downright weird even for me. Seriously though, share it with the world, or even just with me at least :)

Of course, good designers need to evolve and adapt to changing demands in the industry. Keeping your skills up to date and being aware of changing trends is essential. As a self professed perfectionist I believe I have an excellent understanding of space, composition and hierarchy as well as typographic sensibility, with the added bonus of good spelling and grammar. I believe I can finally put my eye for detail to good use! So here I am. Make good use of me, right?

Why Rebel Diamonds you ask? Well that's for another blog, another time. For now, Angels are like Diamonds. They can't be made, you have to find them. Each one is unique. And now you've found me. I do a little BLING of everything. Welcome to Rebel Diamonds Graphic Design, thank you for reading my first blog. Until next time...
